MY STORY

It wasn't until I THOUGHT I had completed writing the book: Sister Talk, that the Lord began to break my heart for the loss of love we the body of Christ had for each other. My heart would break every time I'd sit in church and hear comments from the pulpit like, " the worst place to tell anyone about your business is the church" or " you haven't seen a fight until you've seen a church fight". The whole church would cheer in agreement and I would curl up in pain. It was surprising to me because I wasn't too sure I disagreed with the church sentiments but I felt the pain all the same. I knew God was telling me something. He started illuminating several scriptures concerning love, unity and godly connections. Every message in those scriptures showed that we as the body of Christ were not operating in love like we should. It took a couple of years before I understood that God wanted me to lead a ministry to help restore the love He designed us to have towards each other.
Not being a girfriend-y kind of girl, I was surprised at the ministry model God began to work in my spirit - women getting together as girlfriends to pray and support each other in godly relationships. It sounded like fun so I thought it would be easy to execute. But again to my surprise, women were running from sisterhood like it was the plague. God began showing me the state of the church's love among its members. Many people had been hurt in church. However because we love God we continue to fellowship with each other but with protective walls around our hearts. Behind those walls women's hearts were still crying out for connections, for sisterly love and for encouragment in ways that only could come from covenant relationships.
In 2005 Sister Talk Ministries was born beginning with Bible studies specifically for women. By October, God had opened doors for our first Sister Talk Ministries Conference. Sister Talk Ministries was alive and on her way. It is a unique ministry that focuses on women ministering to each other. So every aspect includes women doing things TOGETHER.
Looking back, I thought I was being obedient to God's voice; "to write a book of poetry for women". I didn't like poetry and certainly didn't want to write a book of them. My writing skills centered around fiction novels and short stories. My plan was to write this book and get on with my writing career as a novelist. Even though I am an evangelist, I had no intention of leading a ministry. Now I see that God had this plan from the start.
